Las Palmas is in the early stages for gaining approval for a rooftop dining above their popular Cuban eatery at the corner of Donnelly and 4th Avenue downtown, according to sources. This would be Mount Dora’s first full-service rooftop restaurant, with views of Lake Dora and the historic town.
The post office is looking for a new location within the Mount Dora city limits, on the south side of 441. The current post office is leased, and more space is required for mail vehicles, sorting/distribution. We’re told the plans are to maintain a “retail” post office, smaller in scale than the current space, in or near downtown.
Discussions continue with the County for repaving 5th Avenue from Alexander to Tremain Street.We’re told the by government officials that the final details should be pinned down soon for approval by the Lake County Board of Commissions, then by the Mount Dora City Council. If all keeps moving along, this much needed resurfacing might be done by fall.
